Crop Over festival in Barbados

Crop over in Barbados is a five week long celebration dating back to the days when sugar cane was king and Barbados was the worlds largest producer.

Crop over was held at the end of the cane harvest and a huge festival took place in celebration of another successful year.

For a number of years as the sugar industry declined in Barbados Crop Over was almost entirely forgotten, but in the mid seventies it came roaring back with the advent of tourism and is now bigger and better than ever.

Crop Over is a big tourist attraction that should not be missed by those vacationing in Barbados.
