This is the best preserved of the signal stations in Barbados.
Any signal going from the Cotton Tower one in a chain of stations set up by the British army to St. Ann’s Fort in Bridgetown had to be relayed via Gun Hill.
 The 360-degree view from Gun Hill, 700 feet above sea level, was what made this location of strategic importance to the 18th-century British army.
