Holetown located on the west coast of Barbados was the first settlement in Barbados, originally it was named James town in honour of King James I of England.
There is a monument in Holetown commemorating the first English landing in 1625, in yet to be named Barbados.
There are some nice beaches and restaurants in the area, as well as plenty of shopping at many duty free shops at Sunset Crest and the chattel house village.
An interesting section of Holetown is the brightly colored chattel houses that are actually stores offering unique Bajan items and Barbados souvenirs.
Several of the shops are duty free, and will ship the items you buy to your house if you want.
There are several restaurants, Cocomo's, The Elbow Room, Angry Annie’s, The Mews, TGI Friday’s that has only been open a short time, a pizza place and a Cheffette (fast food)
